Courageous Advocacy – Parsons Heath’s Pioneers for Change 

At Parsons Heath C of E Primary School, we want to support and encourage our children to become courageous advocates, not just locally but nationally and globally. It is important for our children to appreciate their role as part of a community; to take responsibility, to be able to look after themselves and foster an understanding of their importance, impact and influence in the world. As our Christian Vision expresses, we all belong and it is our duty to take care of those and the world around us.  

The Church of England defines Courageous Advocacy as: ‘Speaking out against an issue of injustice, often on behalf of those whose voice is not heard’. 

At Parsons Heath C of E Primary School, we encourage children to champion causes that are special and meaningful for them and to make positive change locally or globally.  

We believe our children can become ‘Pioneers of Change’ and this is why we have launched our ‘Parsons Heath’s Pioneers of Change’ challenge throughout the school.   

As a school, we want to complete the ‘Pioneers for Change’ challenge within each academic year. There are 12 activities that children can complete to tick off a challenge. These can be done by individuals, groups or whole classes either inside or outside of school. Children who have completed challenges will be celebrated in our ‘Celebration’ time and have their photos added to the wall. It is our aim that every child will be represented on the board at least once as each class will take on at least one of the challenges in school. Those children who have gone above and beyond will be rewarded further at the end of the year.
